Blue Skies and Vital Information.

intake for today: 0
exercise hours: 2 hours swimming, 1 hour cardio tapes at home

okay so i spent today at the lake with people and it was tons of fun. there was a buncha fat chicks there so it made me feel good.
ive noticed that when im happy its easier for me not to eat.
the moment today was just beautiful.
sitting in the passengers seat, this boy driving, me with my legs stretched out the window to rest on the side mirror, the radio blasted at full volume, everyone smilling and playing around....
and the best part was i felt THIN.
i felt thin for just a moment because the other girl in the car weighed more than i did and kept asking me what exercises i do to keep the weight off.

i just fed her a bullshit story about me being blessed with fast metabolism.

the sky was blue-er than blue and cloudless. it was hot but not too hot outside and the lake water was really pretty and clear.

it glistened like diamonds from the highway.

today was good.

we had stopped at a gas station to pick up food, and in a moment of weakness, i picked up a pepperjack taquito and bought it.

80 cents.
wonder how much bullshit they stuck in it for it to be 80 cents.

i was so close. everyone was inside, and i kept thinking 'its okay just eat it.'
but then i stopped. and told myself i wouldnt fail. told myself i was tired of binging and stupid food. and then convinced myself that the pepperjack in the middle was rotted and that it would be chunky and rancid.

then before anyone came back, i threw it away in the trash.

no taquito for me.

because i choose to be thin.

im going to be thin.

im not going to fuck up anymore.

i swam for a good 2 hours. raced laps with the boys and everything. then when i got home, i was rewarded. rewarded with 127.4 on the scale.

its dropping.

slowly but surely its dropping.

it was at 129 but now its at 127.4

not exactly what i want it to be, but hey id rather be 127 than 130.

itll be so easy to just stop eating. just stop eating and let go of all the weight.

im so excited i cant wait to be thin.

okay so i know FOR SURE my metabolism is fucked and thats why its so hard for me to lose weight right now.

good news is, i know how to fix it. i pay attention in biology for a reason.

metabolism is comprised of two processes. catabolism and anabolism.

anabolism is the synthesis of living tissue from stored energy. catabolism is the breaking down of energy in cells.

what this means is anabolism is storing fat, catabolism is using fat.

metabolism basically files away what you eat.

different factors affect your metabolic rate, but the good thing is, your metabolic rate isnt solid. people arent just born with sucky ones and they cant change it.

its fixable.

your matabolic rate will change depending on your eating and exercising habits.

of course your metabolism is slower in the afternoon and practically dead at night so the best thing you can do for yourself is eat the bulk of your daily intake in the morning and throughout the early half of the day.

if you eat one big meal in the morning, then youre going to burn out quick. cutting up your food will make you both hungrier through the day, and make you lose more weight because it keeps your metabolism running long after youve finished eating and its easier for your metabolism to work with smaller amounts of food than one large thing at a time.

think of it as overloading your system.

a recurring fact ive seen in studies on weight loss/gain is that most people that claim to have a bad metabolism eat 3 large meals everyday [or 4 large meals.] and eat the bulk of their food late at night whereas people seem to be naturally thin, eat smaller portions [obviously] but are hungrier more often.

[have you ever had a friend who was drop dead thin, but ALWAYS hungry? its because they eat small amounts constantly]

another thing ive found out is that when doing cardio and aerobic exercises like swimming, running, walking, and dance, then your metabolism can keep going for up to 8 hours after youre done even if its only been a 15 minute workout.

strength training only increases muscle mass, and doesnt do much for metabolism so when people do strength training, its found that they often GAIN weight [muscle mass] underneath the fat tissue, making them look bulky.

the reason eating lots of fruits and vegetables can increase your metabolism is because it takes your body longer to break them down thus making your metabolism run longer, and so more fat getting used for metabolic processes. another tip is that spices increase metabolism by 50%

also, carbs.

weve heard it all.

dont eat carbs.

but the reason is that your body breaks down carbs before fat so if you eat tons of carbs, your body will spend time breaking those down and burn out before it gets to eat up the fat. it also burns protein, along with carbs and fat, so if you want your body to burn strictly fat, then cut out protein and carbs. [lots of protein will also make you gain muscle mass which is why im basically terrified of it]

i consider the last few paragraphs ive written to be vital information for the fact that its IMPOSSIBLE to lose weight with a fucked up metabolism.
youll get completely discouraged and will end up gaining more weight than before.

its extremely important to keep your metabolism up especially when severely decreasing intake.

plus, hey you gotta spread the love right? gotta support each other and share secrets and what ever else.
haha okay im being lame now.

oh and i hope i gave at least some of you info that you didnt already have.

peace

  5. You are so interesting. For someone so young (compared to me :)), you are so articulate and your writing is so well thought out. Sometimes I just skim your posts because they are so long, but after reading this one through I think I may quit that, you are just too interesting to pass up!

  8. Great job on your day! Sounds like the perfect day.. great motivation!!

The metabolism info was very beneficial! It is also helpful to have caffeine often to help give your metabolism a boost and to suppress hunger cravings! :] Keep up the good work!

  9. Love the blog, but I have to disagree with you about a couple things...

It does NOT take the body longer to break down fruits and veg than other foods. The simple sugars and amino acids in fruits and vegetables are very easily accessed because those foods are unprocessed and unmodified - unlike bread, dairy, etc.

When it comes to carbs vs. protein vs. fats... the body will ALWAYS use carbohydrates as a source of energy first, then protein, then fat (like you said). BUT. The problem is that your mucsles, organs, etc. are surviving on that protein and made up of that protein. And all the fat on your body, everywhere, is like a super-condensed form of energy, and is hardest for the body to break down. So when you deprive yourself of fuel... because the body is efficient, it's going to turn to your MUSCLES for energy before it turns to the FAT for energy.

((You can see this in skinny, flabby girls who have absolutely no muscle tone))

The breakdown is: carbs are used for ENERGY, protein is used to REBUILD/MAINTAIN, fat is for STORAGE.

The problems are reduced when you eat enough carbohydrates. Let's say you want to go out for a run. If you don't eat anything first, your body has no fuel. Therefore, it will turn to protein (muscles, organs, etc.) to propel you through your exercise.

BUT. Let's say you eat an apple first. The body recognizes that as carbohydrates/simple sugars/FUEL, and uses it to help you run. Afterwards, your body takes the stored energy (fat), and distributes it throughout the rest of your muscles, organs, tissues, etc. If you decide to have some protein afterwards - even better! Because that means your muscles can immediatly start to recover.

The more muscle you have on your body, the more energy you need to maintain it. Which leads to... an increase in metabolism.

I'm sorry if I sound like I'm preaching... I just want to help. Good luck this week!
